After serving 22 years in the Canadian Army, including breaking barriers as the second woman in a Combat Arms unit, Bonnie continues her lifelong commitment to public service by standing up for fair democracy and the needs of her community.

Bonnie’s military career is marked by a legacy of leadership and resilience. She was only the second woman to serve as an Armoured Crewman in her unit and eventually rose to become the highest-ranked woman in her trade in unit history.

Her service also included making history as part of the first father-daughter gunnery crew in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps.

These accomplishments speak to her strength, tenacity, and no-nonsense approach to leadership, qualities she now brings to her political life.

After retiring from the military, Bonnie relocated to East-Central Alberta, first to Kneehill County to help with her parents’ horse breeding operation, and later settling in Beaver County with her husband, their dogs, and horses.

Bonnie has spent her post-military life immersed in her community, supporting local businesses, volunteering for mental health and veterans’ initiatives, and continuing her advocacy for those too often overlooked.

What sparked Bonnie’s decision to enter federal politics was not ambition, but principle.

Having served in Afghanistan and seen the consequences of democratic erosion firsthand, Bonnie could not stay silent.

She knew she had to act.

Bonnie ran as an Independent because she believes that true representation cannot come from party loyalty, it must come from accountability to the people.

She was able to build a huge grassroots following during the campaign, reaching out to thousands of people on social media- and she took almost 10% of the vote in the by-election!
