Doing It Right is a women’s conference, not a women-only conference. Men are absolutely welcome to attend, join the conversation, and spend the day with us.

We love men. Some of our favourite people are men.

Kristy and Lindsay have been to a lot of political conferences over the years.

And there were always a lot of men.

Nothing wrong with that — but we started noticing that women weren't always getting the same opportunities to speak, ask questions, or be part of the conversation. At the same time, women we knew would tell us they skipped political conferences altogether because they didn't feel particularly comfortable or like the event was meant for them.

So we thought: why don't we make one?

We wanted to create the kind of political conference we'd actually want to attend: interesting conversations, smart speakers, plenty of opportunities to meet people, good food, a drink at the end of the day, and a room where women feel completely comfortable jumping into the discussion.

And so, Doing It Right was born.

Yes. But also... not entirely.

There will be lots of politics. We like politics. We're going to talk about elections, government, political parties, and some of the big debates happening in Alberta and across Canada.

But we're also going to talk about policy — and that's a much bigger category.

Business. Work. Families. Housing. Education. Healthcare. Our communities. The cost of living. The rules and regulations that affect how we live and what we do.

A lot of the things women deal with every single day are shaped by public policy, whether we think of them as "political" or not.

So if you love politics, you'll have plenty to talk about.

If you don't love politics, don't worry. There will be sessions for you too — including conversations about business, leadership, careers, community, and issues that affect everyday life.

You definitely don't need to spend your evenings refreshing election projections to have a good time here.

Not at all.

We're proudly multi-partisan.

We make a genuine effort to bring people from different political parties, backgrounds, and perspectives onto our panels. You don't have to agree with everyone on stage. In fact, we'd be a little disappointed if you did.

We're tired of politics where everyone retreats to their respective corners and talks only to people who already agree with them. We reject the extremes on both sides and want to bring a little normalcy back to politics and political conversations.

Our panels aren't designed to convince you of anything.

Our speakers, on the other hand, might try.

And hopefully some of them succeed.

The point is that you'll hear different arguments, get different perspectives, and make up your own mind.

Sort of — but we promise we won't make you stand in a circle and deliver an elevator pitch.

Meeting people has always been a big part of Doing It Right, which is why we've built more time for it into the 2026 conference.

There are three Coffee & Connections breaks throughout the day, plus our cocktail hour at the end. Grab a coffee, find someone interesting, and say hello.

That's networking. We're keeping it simple.

You gave us feedback. We actually read it.

The biggest request after our inaugural conference was more choice in programming, so this year we're introducing concurrent sessions. You'll be able to choose which conversations you want to be part of rather than spending the entire day in one room.

You also asked us to tackle some spicier topics.

Message received.

We're going to have some conversations that might make people disagree — politely, we hope — while keeping everything that worked the first time around.

There will still be plenty of food.

There will still be plenty of time to talk.

And yes, there will still be cocktails.

Food was a big part of our first Doing It Right conference, and we're not about to start sending people into political discussions hungry.

Coffee, food, snacks, and our end-of-day cocktail hour are all part of the experience.
